Eben V. Hall (Principle / CEO)
 
Eben Hall is the Principle CEO with HM International LTD (HMI).  Mr. Hall is based in Westport, CT, USA.  Mr. Hall specializes in competitive identities, project finance and real estate resort development specifically advising governments and multinationals on infrastructure investments and tourism master planning in emerging markets.  In particular, he has an interest in advising nations on strategies for advancing sustainable human development initiatives by targeting solutions for tourism’s human, economic and environmental impacts. Mr. Hall has extensive international experience and a passion for working with communities to utilize tourism development for poverty alleviation.  He works closely with local partners on project initiatives to implement a comprehensive strategy for clients integrating HMI's experts in the trade, social and cultural disciplines.
 
Having successfully directed over $1 billion in transactions, acquisitions, and product implementations for companies like GE (General Electric), Oracle, Carlson Companies and Aman Resorts, Mr. Hall determines investment strategies of resources and projects for turnaround operations and enhanced growth.  He led efforts at both GE and Carlson to realize $1 billion dollars of increased efficiencies and cost reductions by redesigning financial, planning, and sourcing operations.
 
Mr. Hall received a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Jamie Shafer - Business Development

Mr. Shafer’s experience with a wide range of business matters and industries allows him to analyze the objectives of his clients and provide effective advice and representation tailored to his clients’ needs.


Experience Includes:

(i) Negotiating the acquisition, disposition, finance, development, leasing, subleasing and management of real property;

(ii) Advising clients on issues of capital formation for real estate transactions, including joint ventures, mezzanine financing, commercial loans and private equity;

(iii) Counseling clients in choosing and structuring business entities (including partnerships, corporations and limited liability companies) to facilitate capital formation and the financing of acquisitions; and

(iv) Assisting clients in a variety of business transactions, including the purchase and sale of assets, stock and partnership interests and the negotiation of shareholder, partnership, employment, property management, and lease agreements and other business contracts.


Mr. Shafer owns and operates a private airplane sales and service business based in Charlotte, N.C. and a medical equipment and supplies business located in Dallas, TX.  Mr. Shafer is a licensed commercial pilot and resides in Dallas, TX.


Jackie McCaffery (New Business and Research Director)


Ms. McCaffery joined HMI in 2010 as a business origination consultant and currently directs New Business and Research.


With over 15 years of wealth management experience, Ms.McCaffery's holistic philosophy has resulted in the successful application of diverse allocation strategies, buy and sell-side representation, sourcing, and analysis.


Working across multiple asset classes, geographies and industries with various fund managers has culminated in a proven record of raising assets in the alternative investment space. Ms. McCaffery started her career at the Bank of New York as an analyst in 1998 and moved to HSBC in 2003, where she stayed for nine years and managing a portfolio of over $400M USD before branching out to oversee a maturing portfolio of private wealth. Ms. McCaffery dedicates time to Coleytown Elementary School, where she serves on the Executive Board as Treasurer.


Licenses and Qualification:  FINRA General Securities Rep (Series 7); State Security Agent (Series 66); New York State Insurance licensed for Life, Accident and Health; NYS Long Term Care Partnership Plan Certification.

Michael Savereux (Project CEO)

Mike Savereux has worked in the IT and technology sector for 32 years and since 2005 has focused exclusively on driving best return on technology investment within luxury mixed-use resort development projects.  Prior to this he created and developed over a 15 year period a successful IT network integration and services business based in the UK supporting many multi-national customers.  His firm understanding of business together with his flair for leadership lend themselves perfectly to the challenging world of high-end property development.


Foresight and creativity are fundamental to Mr. Savereux’s approach to help deliver operational efficiency and enhanced revenue flow, whilst differentiating the property in an increasingly competitive market.  Working as an integral part of the management team he establishes a clear understanding of the investor vision and business objectives before matching technology strategy to business needs, always taking into account financial return.


Based in Miami, Florida Mr. Savereux has an excellent understanding of the Caribbean region and the approach required to achieve successful outcomes from island projects.  He is adept at creating the optimum project resourcing by blending locally available labor with overseas specialists and in so doing contributing to the development of the local skills pool.  This reflects his passion for contributing to the communities touched by island developments.


Mr. Savereux has been involved in many prestigious resort developments including the exclusive Pink Sands Club on Canouan in The Grenadines, the luxurious and serene Amanyara Resort in the Turks & Caicos Islands and the private island paradise of Scrub Island Resort Marina and Spa in the British Virgin Islands.


Mr. Savereux earned his Bachelor degree from the University of Aston in Birmingham in the UK.


Rajesh Pant (Hotel Development Director)

Rajesh Pant has thirty years of hospitality business experience gained in four continents. He has worked as Financial Controller, Area Director and CFO in a number of hospitality establishments that range from boutique hotels to large all-inclusive resorts, condominium hotels and cruise ships. Rajesh specializes in setting up new businesses, pre-opening, creating SOPs and turn around.
 
He has opened new hotels in Africa, the Caribbean, South East, India, Bhutan and Maldives. His recent engagements were with Nikki Beach Hotels as the CFO and Aman Resorts as Regional Controller. Prior to that Rajesh also worked with Allegro Resorts (Occidental Hotels) and Disney Cruise Line.
 
Rajesh holds a management designation from the UK and associate membership of HCIMA.

Shelley Lotz (Spa Development Director)


Shelley Lotz has more than 25 years of experience in the spa/wellness industry as an educator, technician, and business owner. As an entrepreneur, Shelley thrives on new ideas and the creativity of starting new projects. Her latest book is Green Spas and Salons: How to Make Your Business Truly Sustainable. She is a major contributing author of Milady’s Standard Esthetics Fundamentals, a textbook for esthetician students. Her articles are featured in trade journals and consumer publications. Shelley has a science degree in biology, communications, and geography from Southern Oregon University.


With a diverse background, she understands all aspects of a business startup and the operations from an owner’s perspective, as well as from the employees and customer’s viewpoints. Shelley is passionate about spas, travel/hospitality, and sustainability. She likes wearing many hats and is also a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor (CSBA) and instructor. She started in management, had a private practice, and started an institute of aesthetics. Other past ventures include the travel/hospitality industry, retail, and real estate. When she is not traveling around the world and researching spa trends, she lives in Ashland, Oregon with her Greek husband. She has served on numerous boards and committees.


Her philosophy is based on offering excellent service while supporting local communities, doing business with integrity, and operating sustainably. Spa/wellness centers are a growing multibillion-dollar industry and key facets in resort and hospitality developments. Guests choose their vacations based on the experience, amenities, and programs that the location offers. Unique branding and quality services stand out and lead to return guests. Shelley offers dependable, organized planning, in-depth research, and attention to tiny details.

Laura Usher (Real Estate Director)

With a strong background in mortgage lending, real estate law and commercial property management, she became a licensed Realtor in 1993 and has had a successful career listing and selling real estate in resort markets for more than 20 years.  
 
A passion for travel and a desire to know other cultures led her to the field of international real estate.  After completing course work in Italy, Laura received her designation as a Certified International Property Specialist.  With a focus on emerging international markets that offered both lifestyle and investment opportunities, Laura subsequently began working in Panama.  She is a passionate promoter of Panama and is a member of the US-Panama Business Council.  She is also a member of Leading Agents of the World and has been certified in Transnational Referrals by the International Consortium of Real Estate Associations.  She is a member of the Cape Cod and Islands Association of Realtors Board of Directors, the Cape Cod and Islands Multiple Listing Service Board of Directors and the Massachusetts Association of Realtors Board of Directors.  Laura is also a volunteer with the New England Center for Homeless Veterans in Boston.
 
Laura is a graduate of the Katharine Gibbs School in Boston and the Institut de Français in Villefranche-sur-mer, France.  She is currently continuing her studies at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  
 
Laura divides her time between Cape Cod, Boston and the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.

Dan Berrien (Planning Director)

Dan Berrien is a sustainable tourism and real estate development specialist, with expertise in the planning, design and management of sustainable tourism projects. Mr. Berrien is a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional and his experience includes providing technical assistance for green building projects.
 
Mr. Berrien has worked on projects across the North America, Central America and the Caribbean.  His work has focused on creating site plans and development strategies that are in tune with the natural setting and respond to the culture of the project location.
 
Mr. Berrien holds a Masters in Regional Planning from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where he was awarded the Kenneth L. Good Graduate Student Fellowship by the Urban Land Institute for his work related to sustainable real estate development, and received his bachelor’s degree in Geography from Clark University. He is also a licensed Realtor.

Patrick Lawler (Acting General Counsel)

Patrick Lawler represents borrowers and lenders in a wide variety of financings – ranging from asset and cash flow based lending, senior and subordinated credit facilities, mergers, acquisitions, equity and debt offerings, syndicated commercial lending, project and structured financings, and entertainment financings.  Many of his transactions are multinational. 
 
Patrick has practiced corporate finance law for over 20 years, all at large law firms. From 1992-1997 Patrick worked in New York City where his practice focused on mergers, acquisitions, equity and debt offerings, and syndicated commercial lending. From 1997-2008 Patrick worked in San Francisco, practicing in many of the same areas but also working with many clients in the technology, private equity, structured finance and oil and gas industries. In San Francisco, he was a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman and, afterwards, the partner in charge of Kirkland & Ellis’ Debt Financing Group. Since 2008, Patrick worked in Los Angeles for O’Melveny & Myers, once again expanding his practice to include representation of entertainment companies.
 
He received his J.D. from University of Chicago in 1992 and his A.B. in Classics from Stanford University in 1989 (Phi Beta Kappa, with honors and distinction).  He is a member of the State Bars of California and New York.

Michelle Grambow (Managing Director & Retail Specialist - Europe)

Michelle Grambow has over 20 years of international strategic marketing and business development experience. She has built her career on the integration of consumer insight with a keen understanding of business strategy, helping to grow some of the world’s premier brands, including Coca-Cola, Lands’ End, and Doubleclick. Michelle has worked with leading brands in the UK retail market including Thornton's, Hamley's, Boden, French Connection UK and The White Company and advised on their multi-channel strategies.
 
Ms Grambow received degrees in strategic marketing and marketing management and has guest lectured at a number of universities in the United States.
 
Ms Grambow leads the infrastructure commodity practice in addition to driving the growth of the business by developing and ensuring an effective global marketing and sales strategy.
 
Ms Grambow was educated at the University of Wisconsin, USA.
